I'd really like to get a copy of Leon but I know there are several versions out there... So my question is: which version is the best? I've got to have widescreen and R1, of course, but I'd like the best version of Besson's film.

Any suggestions?

Funny, I've just finished watching it. One of my fav films ever.

I've got 'Léon: The Professional: Uncut International Version', ean is 043396061965.

Although I've also got the 1st released internation version from Japan. But the above is the best version around currently I believe.

There is also Leon: The Professional :Deluxe Superbit Editon , UPC: 043396098589. It was released on jan-1-2005, so it may be easier to find than the "Uncut Version"
It has the same runtime as the uncut version, has 2 discs, DTS and 5.1 audio.
I have both versions, i don't think i have ever seen the 110 minute theatrical release version.

For this sort of question go to Rewind (www.dvdcompare.net) because it is a great starting point especially for older titles:

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=467

However FWIW I have the R1 US International version 0433960-61965 (because of the accent it is hard to find by title in DVDP) and it is excellent! ... apparently the R1 Superbit has transfer problems but I would agree generally any International Cut is good even if you can't find the German or Korean ones!

I think these are the same problems as the previous Uncut International Version.

The audio on the Uncut International Version is not as good as on the Superbit Deluxe either (it's very flat).

I owned the Uncut International Version originally, then bought the Superbit Deluxe and compared the two. Decided to hang on to the Superbit Deluxe and get rid of the Uncut International Version. Mainly for the better audio as there is not much difference in image.

Kinda miss the Isolated Score from the Uncut International Version though.

Beware that the initial release of the Uncut International Version had 5.1 problems where the rear channels were screwed. The fixed version says "Newly created English 5.1 (Dolby Digital)" in the specs listed on the back cover.
