A friend and I were discussing our collections and how they seem to fill more and more space as the numbers expand and that led to the question of, what was the first disc you bought (or were gifted) that began the addiction?

Mine was 'Blazing Saddles' on 9/6/97 ( I know that because of DVDP.)

I know I started later than some others because I had a sizable collection of LaserDiscs already and didn't want to invest in two formats till I was sure DVD was here to stay. It was

The Matrix was my first and got it from I think DVD Express or something like that. They went out of business or change hands and went down hill from there.

I found deepdvddiscount and been using them and amazon ever since.

'Dune' and 'The Crow' on 31.7.1998 from DVD Express
Unbelievable 55€ (75USD) for them together.

After that I bought a lot of DVDs from DVDBoxoffice because of their freeshipping (major factor on R1-disc to Europe) and it still shows

Conan the Barbarian, in December of 2000. Unfortunately, I didn't find DVDPro until much later. I also bought my first DVD player at the same time.
That night, after seeing how awesome DVD was was, I ran out and bought about 20 more.
I miss bonus checks...

Mine were The Replacements and X-Men.

It was obviously after 2000, but I have no idea when exactly. I didn't keep record at that time. Actually, i didn't keep records until 2004! Which is when I started using DVDP.

I swear you have the best selection of avatars here. Sometimes I think I come in here just to see what you are going to have next. Off topic but man I like it.

My first title was the Alien Legacy Collection. I bought it from Reel.com back on 6.1.1999. Paid $74.99

Back then you could get excellent deals from online vendors, and most times get the shipped and in your hands before street date. But alas, those days are gone. I can't remember the last time I pre-ordered something.

My was Gladiator (purchased December 2000 for $37.99). I purchased it to test out the new home theatre system that I had purchased. It was one of the few DVDs available that had a DTS soundtrack. I started using DVD Profiler in January 2001

On 7/4/97 I bought a new computer with a DVD-ROM drive. It came with my choice of three free DVD's
from what at the time was an extremely limited selection at a local Best Buy. I got My Fellow American's, Tin Cup and Caddyshack. Oh! if I only knew then what I know now.
