| | Posted: | | | | Is it possible to export to .xls or .csv from dvd profiler ? Or anything else than .xml since i don't have a clue on how to use the xml file to get my dvd titles to exel for example.. |

After starting up DVDProfiler, you should find a new menu option on the Tools menu called "Export Profile Database to CSV". So I have the csv saved to my C drive and it is over 7.1 MB in size.. When you try to export the db to csv do you get the following windows?
In DVDP:
Tools | Export Profile Database to CSV
Acceptable Use Policy Window: Accept
The Export Profile Database Window is nearly identical to the old export window from 2.x only with more options.
Select what you want to export and the name\location of the file and click export.
If you went through all this, and the file is in the location on your second screenshot, you may have accidentally exported the csv to collection.xml. Try renaming it from collection.xml to collection.csv. | | | Juoquim

I thought .xls was excel?? It is. .xls is the default output from Excel. .csv is Comma Separated Values. It's a text file that can be read by Excel, but it's not Excel's native format. You can open a .csv file in Notepad and you should see a bunch of data sepatated with commas. One line for each row in Excel. What your screenshot is showing is .xml. That's obvious from the "<Actor FirstName=..." text. I don't know what you're doing wrong, but you're not opening the open from the CSV Export plugin. You're opening the output from DVD Profiler's Export option which only outputs XML. You need to run the Export to CSV option from DVD Profile and pay close attention to where it's writing it's output file. You should see a .csv file there. Sorry I can't be more helpful at the moment. My wife had surgery yesterday and I'm sitting in a hospital room. | | Posted: | | | | Thanks for the tip, i got .csv out just fine with the plugin. It doesn't seem to understand scandinavian characters but that's not a major problem, it's easy to mass change those manually.

You seem to take the export from the wrong menu, if you take File --> Export Profile Database... you get .xml file that exel does not understand.
But when you take Tools --> Export Profile Database to CSV... you get an .csv file that you can import to exel. |

| | Posted: | | | | ah much better.. !! Ok Time to admit what an Idiot I am.. I was using the File/export Data base.. Instead of Tools/Export Profile Data base.. Shows what happens when you read something to quick and omit the word Tools/ Where's that .gif showing me being kicked in the ass ??  Oh and BTW Mark I hope your wife comes thru in flying colors with her operation..
