You have now become my hero. For what you ask ? You own the Puppet Master Box set - Original pressing. Now thats just insane.....I have tried forever to find this, for a decent price and have yet to be able to secure one.

Soooooooo I'm thinking, if anything should happen to you ( heaven forbid ! ) but you know, just incase .. you should put in your will that Rimmer needs to get your copy of this masterpiece. I mean seriously, who else would take it ? Your relatives ?? You know as well as I do, they don't think of you as a "hero" per-say.
Now me .. I think of you as a hero. As a matter of fact, I'm going to write to the script writers on the show "heroes" and recommend you as a new character. You could be "DVD Hero guy". You know, whipping out 1 liners from movies you have seen at JUST the precise moment. Don't ask me how that would help save the world, but it just would.

Think it over .. no need to answer me right now. Just make sure to not partake in anything dangerous until you have given me your answer.

And if the answer is yes, do you wanna come skydiving with me ????

Uh, thanks Rimmer!! I'll consider putting a clause in my legal will for you.

Yes, I bought the original Puppet Master box set at Tower Records years ago, for only $69 back then. I got the last one they had for sale in fact...after it had been recalled due to the legal issues of its release.

Actually the ones Charles Band is selling now are "reprints" with subtle differences as a good friend of mine confirmed (and others on the HorrorDVDs forum), and not the originals as he claims.

Get ready for a re-release box.

Don't suppose you could offer up a link. I'm highly aware of Charles Band selling bootlegs and claiming they're imports like with the Subspecies & Trancers sets, so I'm not entirely surprised by this information.

I'll try to locate the exact thread over there, it may have even been in the IRC chat room. He located "70" box sets way back in 2005, and always seems to be finding more of them...which seems highly suspicious. I've received I don't know how many emails from Full Moon saying things like "ABSOLUTE LAST FEW PUPPET MASTER BOX SETS FOUND IN WAREHOUSE!!!" since then. It seems that Charles is finding a new batch of 'em every week.

I did find the original thread of when those "last 70 sets" were found.

And I also found this on the archives of Charles Band's official blog:

"On some other fronts: We actually have just a few boxes now left of the PUPPETMASTER BOX SET and it will permanently come off our site on December 31st"

That was posted back in late 2005. "permanently" sure sounds suspicious, as it's now 2007 and you just know these have been selling heavily through Full Moon Direct and Ebay (Charles loves ebay) since then.

I'm surprise Paramount hasn't cracked down on Mr. Band and his rampant bootlegs. While it's likely Charles had them repressed, I'm still not a 100% certain there are any noticable differences in the sets or how you would tell them apart. Wasn't the set originally recalled from the stores by Paramount because Charles didn't have the rights to release them, this also lead to the cancellation of the Subspecies box that was announced back in 2002 as well? Could Charles have possibly had them all sent to is warehouse or the ones that never left the distributor or Koch sent to his warehouse?

"THE FINAL REMAINING PUPPETMASTER BOX SETS - FIRST COME FIRST SERVE AT FULLMOONDIRECT.COM!!! WE EXPECT THE REMAINING UNITS TO LAST JUST A FEW DAYS AND AT $100.00 EACH THIS IS A MEGA BARGAIN!!! "
Pre-Order

He also keeps finding these Radu sculptures and selling them on eBay. He's also been whoring out every single painting, doll, sketch, or prop he seems to be able to find in this warehouse. Also there was a period 2 years ago when he was selling producer credits for a future Full Moon feature for like $50 at every Road Show location. Its amazing the lengths this guy goes to get a buck from his fanbase.

Yes KFelon, they were recalled because Band didn't hold the rights to release them. The Puppet Master box set did get out into stores, but only for a limited time before Paramount legally forced the recall.

Right now on the Full Moon website it says "RARE PUPPETMASTER BOX SET FINAL OFFER!!!!!" which has been listed there for almost two years in one form or another. I'll bet you anything that in a month, six months and a year from now... they will keep "finding them"

This was actually selling for $500 on ebay before these "missing sets" turned up in seemingly endless supply.
