The first season was the first DVD that I've bought with my first reader in 2003 and at this time the boxset cost me more than the DVD reader. The first six seasons was costly, something like 170$CAN each with all the tax, and this is the principal reason why I haven't buy the rest.

Now 4 years later, I have finally complete the set with the reception today of the 9 and last season. Sure I have only the regular edition for the last 3 seasons and they don't look as good as the others, but they cost me only 20$CAN new and seal.

Maybe it seems not important but this was my first television series on DVD and I own it all after a very long waiting time. Now I have to watch the last 3 seasons.

At least I'll be ready for the new film when he will be release.

My cousin bought all 9, one after the other, on release day. Cost her an insane amount of money!*

I waited a bit, and bought all 9 seasons on a 2 for 1 deal, at 24.99$ a season (came out to 12.49$ per season), add to that some shipping and customs (imported from US) so I got a very good deal.

* Of course, I'm not much better than my cousin, having bought all 28 seasons of Star Trek on release day

I actually got pretty lucky on my X-Files collection.... I was given at least 3 seasons as gifts over the years... so only had to actually purchase about 6 seasons... not that I still didn't end up paying a lot!

Congrats on completing it though!

We bought our sets as they were released....yes, at £60-70 per set, but with a mixture of R2 bought locally, R1 from Movietyme and even one season bought from HMV in Cambridge, Ontario on one of my many trips to that area.

However with four X Files fanatics in the house, we've never regretted buying them. The Moles, Jnr. (note comma  )  have been through the complete 9 seasons at least twice, watching them after school, while Moles, Snr. are still at work!

I'm a big fan too, that's why I've spend so much money to own the series. I'm just on my marathon right now in fact I am on the 6th seasons. The last episode that I've watch tonight is "One Son" and I can't wait to start the 7th seasons since it will be new for me, because I've never seen past the 6th on TV.

Does "Millenium" is as good since this the next series that I plan to buy and it was created by Chris Carter too?

I am a big fan of the "X-Files" bought as the series came out.
Also fan of these and watch each series as soon as I could gret my hands on them, "Alias", "Millennium", "La Femme Nikita" and now collecting "MI-5" ("Spooks" in he UK).
We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.

I do like the X-Files though, as someone who isn't a 'huge fan', I have waited and am happily picking up the re-release M-Lock cased versions at about £14 each... though I have heard rumours of some problems with some of the releases so anyone following this plan should probably make sure they check the discs on arrival so they can be returned for exchange within the retailers normal 'returns' time limit.

Generally I don't buy half as much on release as I used to for two main reasons 1) I have plenty of unwatched material now so don't need to and 2) I used to compare the prices when I bought something to the price when I actually got around to watching it and realised just how much money it was costing me for no gain... there are a few exceptions (Doctor Who releases mostly and Spooks is another weakness though I'm trying to hold out this time!) but I run a check at the end of each year on what I've saved off the SRP and every single year I've improved so far!

The problem is with the season 2. The re-release version doesn't have the special features so the last disc was not there, but the problem is that the last episode of that season was on it. Since than the error was corected so there are no trouble with the new pressing, but if you buy it use it's better to check.
