I wandering what people's experinces are with PDAs that have built in keyboards.  Mostly on how when the keyboard functions.  I am thinking of picking up one from HP (link).  I know it is smart phone, but that is not what I would use it for.  DVDP mobile is one reason.  But the main reason is to use it to write with.  I like to write and it isn't always convenient to do so on my laptop.

Your link is bad.

Keep in mind that a smartphone doesn't have a touchscreen and thus isn't compatable with DVDP mobile.

I have the HTC Tilt from AT&T and I like it over the 8525 keyboard.  Once you get used to it, it's not that bad.  However, if the device has small bubble-type buttons like the BlackBerry and you have fat fingers, you won't enjoy it.

I have the 8525 and I find that the keyboard is best for text messaging and is just ok otherwise. The keys are flat and it's easy to hit a wrong key with big fingers. I wouldn't consider it as a good option for writing at length.

I corrected the link.  It runs Pocket PC 5 Premium and has the stylus for input. So I assume it is touch screen.

Okay, that's not a SmartPhone in the sense that SP's don't have a touchscreen interface.

But those buttons - I don't like 'em...

That does answer my question.  Now to continue my quest for a pocket sized word processor

If you have the money... maybe this might be what you require, though it is a bit on the bulky size

The HTC Advantage X7501

HTC (If you don't know the name, they are the makers of most of the Smartphones, i.e. the T-Mobile MDA (II/III) or similar)

Or.. they now do this...

The HTC Shift

This might be what you want.... Runs Vista Pro... Touchscreen... etc
Signature? We don't need no stinking... hang on, this has been done... blast [oooh now in Widescreen]
Ah... well you see.... I thought I'd say something more interesting... but cannot think of anything..... oh well

Those are pretty, but spendy.

I am now looking at the Asus Eee which is little cheaper.  Run Linux, but lots of people load XP onto it.

I don't have any personal experience with it but when I was asking around about good PDAs someone at work with one certainly sung its praises as being capable in just about every department.

Keep in mind that those units that are running XP won't work with the DVDP mobile - you'll be running DVDP itself on it.
