Someone sent this to me:

This takes a while to load, (laden in Dutch), but worth it.  Watch it until the confetti falls.  also, note that although the site is all in Dutch, see what they call the portable radio!!

HEMA

HEMA is a Dutch department store. The first store opened on November 4, 1926, in Amsterdam. Now there are 150 stores all over the Netherlands

HEMA also has stores in Belgium, Luxemburg, and Germany. In June of this year, HEMA was sold to British investment company Lion Capital.

Take a look at  http://product en.hema.nl/  HEMA's product page. You can't order anything and it's in Dutch but just wait a couple of seconds and watch what happens.

This company has a sense of humor and a great computer programmer.

You're right Ken, this programmer is really good. The chain of action/reaction make me remember an awesome but not very usefull game of my childhood : Mouse trap.

P.S : you have a space between the "t" and the "e" on your link

I don't visit that department store and therefore don't visit their website, but this is briliant!!!

Thanks for the correction, AESP.  I just copied the whole thing as it came to me and since the link worked for me I thought it was all right.

I can't take credit for the quote about the programmer as that came with the message I received.  But I have to agree with it.

It reminds you of Mouse Trap.  It reminds me of Rube Goldberg.

Brilliant.

HEMA means Dutch Unitarian Prices Company of Amsterdam (Hollandsche Eenheidsprijzen Maatschappij Amsterdam), because when they started out, everything they offered was sold for either 10, 25 or 50 cents.

@ Jean-Paul: You must be one of the VERY few Dutch nationals not to visit HEMA! If I were to list some icons of quintessential "Dutchness", HEMA would definitely be one of them.

Sorry

Maybe I need to visit the HEMA with my girlfriend then. She's Austrian so to naturalize her I should visit it then

I stand corrected BTW I went there once to get a 'vlaai'. It is some sort of pie.

There's no escaping HEMA...

Brilliant idea with regard to your girlfriend, by the way!

Supposedly the only way
She has been thinking about a language course... Don't know why 'cos nobody speaks Dutch anymore anyway.
Don't know where you're from, but when I travel by public transport in Rotterdam (not very often rather go by motorbike or car) I don't hear much Dutch anyway... mostly slang.
