| | Posted: | | | | Wow. Difficult question. But, considering how the cuts change and what is added, I'd recommend starting with the theatrical cut and then watch the new ultimate director's cut. After that I don't think it matters. The reason I'm recommending this order is because of Ford's voiceover, which is present in the theatrical cut but not in the director's cut. I prefer the voiceover. Lots of people don't. I feel it adds a very nice noir feel to the movie, others feel it's drab and belaboured. There's also the argument that Ford's voiceover holds the audience's hand too much, but I don't see it that way. Then there's the ending... without spoiling anything, I think experiencing the theatrical ending first and then expanding your horizon with the director's cut's ending might be the best way to go. You know... as I'm writing this I think I'm changing my own mind.  I do feel that Ford's voiceover is to prefer versus not having it... but the ending... it might be a cooler experience to have seen the director's cut ending when you watch the theatrical cut... I realize since you haven't seen the movie you don't know what I'm talking about, but you will once you've seen it. Hmm. Yeah, I think that would be a more interesting experience... so here's my recco: First the new director's cut. Then the theatrical cut. Then whatever you want.
