Smallville Season case damaged, In need of help. |

| | Posted: | | | | I just recently finished opening several DVD's that I have had in the package for a long long time and come across a few suprises. My first suprise, my Ben-Hur 4 disc set has no disc 1! (I doublt I can return it cause I got it from DD on 12/1/06  ) My 2nd suprise, Smallville (S2) has a damaged case. As anyone with the Smallville sets will be familiar the discs are housed inside a sort of book style container, my problem is, the first page of the book has came out (I guess it didn't have enough glue/Sticky stuff) So does anyone know the stuff that is used the hold the pages in, so perhaps i can get some and repair this (Also, a side question, does anyone think it is remotely possible to get an exchange on the Ben-Hur set considering how long it has been since the transaction?) | | | | DVD Profiler user since October 1, 2004 |

| | Posted: | | | | Depends on where you bought Ben-Hur and if you still have the receipt (they usually print their return/exchange policies on the back), but I highly doubt you'll find many stores willing to exchange something over a year old. If you're willing to possibly argue with a store manager then you never know, but I think it would be a tough sell. I can say that it took a similar incident myself before I started opening DVDs immediately upon purchasing so I could check them out. I still may not watch them for a while and just put them on the shelf, but I at least give them a once over to make sure everything appears okay incase I have to make an exchange. Plus, I've found that if you leave that security sticker they wrap around the edges on too long, then when you do finally peel it off it leaves a lot of sticky residue. The sooner you get that crap off the better. (I'm also anal about removing the security strip from inside the cases, both the plastic rectangular strip and the square sticker with the circuitry in it. I don't know why but it bothers when they're inside the case. I especially don't understand why many of the DVDs I order from Amazon contain both! These discs are all piled up in a warehouse, not sitting on a retail store shelf.  ) As far as the booklet, probably any type of super glue would work. I would just make sure to get a bottle with a tip that could lay down the thinnest strip of glue possible to minimize the effect of re-gluing a page into the booklet. | | Posted: | | | | if you like many of us have spent lots at deepdiscount over the years, i would try to call their customer service, i've always found them to be quite good. you also may want to contact the studios customer support line if that does not work, they may take care of you on that... if not... unfortunately that is the breaks when you do that... i actually plan on opening all my remaining sealed discs on an upcoming vacation i have shortly... for all the reasons vega listed. | | | | -JoN |

| | Posted: | | | | You could always try to going to Best Buy or some other retailer, and say you got the disc as a X-mas gift. This worked for me in the past when an online order had a bad disc. Of course that was 3-4 years ago, so policies/niceness of managers has probably changed.
The store has nothing to lose though. They just send the bad one back and get full credit. |

Suncoast went bankrupt several years ago and was bought by FYE. In locations where both stores are in the mall, I've seen the Suncoast leave and just the FYE remain. If they have the set you can try them. (rant) I had a paid membership in Suncoast's loyalty club through 2010. When FYE took them over and offered an upgrade to their loyalty club, it was only for 6 month, because I was such a "loyal customer". Normally it was just for 3 months. I used my store credit and that only until it was gone to buy DVDs and have not darkened a FYE since. I don't need someone primarily interested in music CDs trying to sell me only the latest "blockbuster" and looking at me with a blank stare when I tell them I'm interested in a non-mainstream title they have never heard of, let alone watched. (/rant) |
