Anyone know first hand what is happening with MGM's  How The West Was Won...  ?
Is there a restoration print ready to go or not?

I see on this web site HP ability to remove the panels using a new photostitch technique, but this article is almost 2 years old..

I have the old DVD, and have always felt uncomfortable watching three panels with differnat shades and hues within all three frames. The illustrations used within this web site shows what the images will look like when Warners gets around to releasing this wonderful Americana tale of the 'ol West .
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Good question. I am looking forward to a restored version of the three strip technicolor print too.

Even if they manage to "remove the panels" (ie make the transition between the panels invisible) they can't do much about the weird perspective changes between the panels. This is especially noticeable when the camera is moving sideways, if I remember correctly. Haven't seen this since it was shown theatrically in the early sixties...

Sadly, this ran on TCM yesterday and it was still the 3-panel mess.  I was hoping it would be the new restoration.

I HOPE this wasn't the new restoration.
