I've been thinking about it for a month or so. I thought it was called "Night of the Living Dead," but I found that one at my local DVD-pusher today, and the overview has nothing to do with what I remember...

What I remember: I believe it is from the 80'es. Is is about a group of people that barricades them self in a crematorium, as some acid-like rain, caused by burning a zombie, starts to "wake up" the nearby cemetery - and of course, these zombies are out to get fresh meat, specifically brains, IIRC. The genre, I believe, is best described as "splatter-comedy"...

Well, anyone remember the title of this?

Are you thinking of Return of the Living Dead, perhaps?

The description is Return of the Living Dead to a T. If it's another movie, it's a rip-off of ROTLD and should be destroyed and replaced with ROTLD.
An all-time favorite of mine. I love it as much now as I did when I first saw it in 85 or so (first VHS release).

Unfortunatly both R1 dvds have a "re-mixed" and "upgraded" soundtrack. Purists like myself aren't too happy about the lead zombie voices being different, but that's what the director wanted so I guess it's O.K. Didn't affect my enjoyment anymore than a second of thinking "that does sound way different".

I agree, it's most definitely Return of the Living Dead, which I just watched yesterday.

Ah, I wasn't too far off on the title then. Tank you, everybody, now I know what to shout in my DVD-pushers face next time!

Wasn't there a series of these?  I remember seeing at least two...maybe three.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Yep, five of them so far. The first two are the best in my opinion, albeit the original remains the best. The 3rd is half decent, directed by Brian Yuzna (Society, Re-Animator series). The 4th and 5th films were made-for-TV and not so good.

"Not so good" is a gross understatement for parts 4 and 5, especially if you've got to endure the cut versions released here in Germany. They're terrible and IMO even Uwe Boll couldn't have delivered a worse job.

I agree that the first two are good (Pt.2) / very good(Pt. 1) movies, part 3 is ok and lives off the "Yuzna-Myth" a lot (something I oftentimes fail to understand).

Now... I admit I am easy to please... but I personally enjoyed the first 4 of the 5... the fifth one I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

I agree. I didn't think 4 was too good really, but I didn't exactly hate it and have seen much worse DTV junk before. The fifth film was indeed atrocious...

Tried to watch a Canadian film the other day called Fido .. It was boring and not anything like Shaun of the Dead, which I throughly enjoyed..

I'm not a huge fan of any past the first, although I'm a fool for hot redheads and Melinda Clarke is smoking hot in part 3 (and naked for a scene!)

5 was Rave to the Grave right, with 4 being Necropolius? I have Rave cuz it was $2 when Hollywood was shutting down. I like it more than Necro, which I rented and couldn't stand.

I'll have to give part 2 another try soon. I haven't seen it in years but remember thinking it went too far on the comedy and didn't have that perfect blend of comdey and horror like the first did.
