Whats this show/film?...with penguins?

A guy from work mentioned something (wasnt sure if it was a TV show or film) that involved 2 (or more) penguins going around in the Antarctic making observations on life.  He said it wasn't from that long ago but couldnt really go into any more detail ( I presume this was because he couldn't remember and not because he was 'being watched'  ).

I hope this wasn't too obscure.

No, I mentioned all these films to him at the time as they were the first things to come to mind 

I think I'll have to discuss the matter further with him as it is a bit too obscure me thinks...

The first thing to do is to ask your buddy if the movie was animated or not.  If it was animated, then we can automatically discount March of the Penguins.

Perhaps the Don Bluth animated movie "The Pebble and the Penguin"? Which featured two buddy penguins seaching for this jewel for one to give to his sweetheart penguin.
