I tend to get this on DVDs I buy from America. They must shrink-wrap their cases differently over there as I don't think I've ever had it happen on a UK bought disc.

We have this alot here. It seems like the shrink wrap melts together with the cover. So annoying!!!!
Never had it happen with DVDs from anywhere else in the world.

I haven't seen this condition yet on any R1 titles I've picked up.  I didn't even know it existed until reading this thread.

Here is the previous discussion which included discussion of many annoying DVD issues including the current one. Some of the comments are entertaining and you certainly feel better knowing others are also struggling.

I wanted to ask "who is in charge of removing the shrink wrap, then the 3 security stickers at the gatefold..."  Is this a full time job, or are there monkeys employed to do this task?

Now it takes me up to two or three minutes per disc, to get this job done, without cutting or tearing the artwork,  Plus making sure there is no sticky residue left behind.   

I'm in the middle of a thirty minute job here unwrapping five DVD's, when I decided to take a coffee break and post this question:
How long does it take to take apart up to 600-800 new DVD's  on  Monday for Tuesdays a.m. release???  ..............(  as well  each disc then has to be catalogued, and put into Inventory.) 

Is there stress/fatigue pay involved?
 

And... it sure would be nice if these guys stopped putting their own bar codes right on top of the liner bar code. Sometimes I simply have to leave it on rather than destroy the liner. If it's just on the case plastic at least you can scan the liner with the correct bar code. I think there are people out there who's job is just to make things harder sometimes... All part of that conspiracy thingee...

I have had the sticky spine problem on DVDs sourced from both the US and locally, which includes those released locaearlly AND those sourced from the US. It is a bugbear!
I also have a problem with the security stickers - they NEVER come off easily and almost always leave a residue. When there are more than 1 it is a mojor pain! Also, not all of them have a 'pull here' label, and even then these don't come away easily.
The other bugbear i have with the shrinkwrap is that there is not normally a tab to pull to make it open more easily. Scissors or something sharp is usually needed to start the opening and then there is the danger of slipping ad damaging the case - It has happened to me at least once!
