| | Posted: | | | | There are several manufactuerer's working on the technology but most of them, except Sony,, have decided that for now it is price prohibitive. One of them is hoping to get the price down to about $800 for that size before they market it. Will be interesting to watch, especially when they can start developing larger sizes. HD would be something of a waste on such a small screen.

| | Posted: | | | | Sony canned all future SXRD development. At the moment the largest set Sony is manufacturing is 52". They make ONE set that is larger and costs $30,000.
Apparently, the main reason they dumped SXRD rear projection (a type of Liquid Crystal on Silicone proprietary to Sony which used a bulb like DLP, and included YEARS of development) was that they feel LED and OLED is superior, and want to make large screens using that technology. The first large screens (likely to be 57" and 65") in the <$10,000 price range are expected to be available in 2010. After some time in mass production, the price tags will probably come down from around the $8,000 - $10,000 mark for the 65".
