Hi,

Ratatouille must be by now the movie with most different blu-ray releases and I really just want to know the best for me.
I know the UK edition has an alternate voice over that includes Jamie Oliver so that one and any other that includes just that english track is out of the question. Does the AU version include just the original track?
So my question is: which version to buy that includes the best picture (guess they are all the same codec, no?), the best audio (original is preferred over DTS-MA UK, for instance), english subs preferred and most extras. Region B would be a plus but considering I'm building a HTPC I'm open to other region suggestions.
I've seen over 10 versions so far and I'm totally lost if I can't verify the audio track status...
Thank you all,
Dave

The Benelux Version (8717418147310) contains the original audio track in PCM 5.1.

It does contain Dutch/Flemish/French audio tracks in DD5.1 and Dutch/French in DTS5.1

It is region B, but since it's a Benelux release you get a bunch of other languages.

Can't help with Ratatouille, but this question is a clear: No.

I made this assumption before as well and found later that I was very wrong. I bought the R1 of "Pan's Labyrinth", thinking that is must be the same transfer everywhere. Well, wrong! Only later did I read, that the US transfer has quite a bit of "enhancement" applied, while the R2 UK release has not suffered such "improvements" and is therefore the superior release. (After seeing related pictures I must agree ).

So, always try to find reviews (multiple!) for each release you consider and see what they say.

Clearly a codec info in DVDProfiler would be a blessing...*wink*Ken*wink*

cvermeylen: Benelux huh? And just where could I buy such version? Since most online stores don't even state the languages I might be buying a swiss or french release...
Also are the extras english subtitled? Or dubbed?

It's available here for 27.99€.

The back cover is in Dutch/French, so that's a disadvantage for you. I suppose the extra's are in the original English language. I am unable to verify this, since I have a broken Receiver, so my Blu-Ray is temporary unconnected.

Btw, isn't the spanish version an option for you? It appears to contain the original audio in English DD5.1 and PCM5.1 (UPC 8717418123116)

I'm currently undecided between 3 versions, FR, AU and ES. Although I don't know if there's any difference between the DD5.1 EX and just DD 5.1 mentioned in the covers...
And I'm really tempted to buy the FR version just because the film setting and mood is indeed french, but I'm always suspicious of the FR editions because they sometimes force hard FR subs  when selecting EN audio.
Also I can't confirm if it's the original audio or the UK one...
