The old 5 disc all in one Sony bit the big one over the weekend. While watching a movie it stopped reading the disc and locked up. All we could get after that was the word reading followed by the disc drawer opening, closing and then repeating the circle. It has gotten quite the workout in the last 3 years and yesterday it was laid to rest. It's replacement is the Sony HDX275 all in one theater in the box. Similiar to the old system. Has alright sound. Center channel could be louder as you have to turn it way up to hear dialogue. The surround sound and the bass are far better. I am going to go through the menus to see if I can increase the center voliume channel. 265.00 out the door at Best Buy. For the family room TV it is quite sufficient. CLICK HERE for specs.

It iis actually a very nice system. The old Sony was good but this one beats it hands down. I did not want to spend alot of money as this is in our family room and will get some use but not the main system for watching DVD's. The dvd player upscales to 1080P... The IPOD dock is a nice feature and the MIC does a good job at adjusting the levels. My only complaint was that the dialogue was hard to hear, but found where I could increase the center channel volume and now all is well. The bass and the surround sound also is very impressive. I was going to go with Panasonic as I love their product but for the price this was the way to go.

I know the setupmic function of the sony systems. Quite unique in that price range. But doing a lot for good sound.
