Which way is the correct way of entering Asian names into the database? |

| | Posted: | | | | In in some Asian Countries such as Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand and China, their "First Name" is used to address each other, or when ever you are referring to a particular person in or during a conversation. But, when it comes to writing the names down on paper or other writing materials where their names will be seen, the "Family Names" or "Last Names" is or are used before their "First Names" for formality and respectful reasons. For Example: In the the beginning or ending credits of a movie, their "Last Names" are used before their "First Names" along with their roles of they played.
My question is that when their "Last Names" appear before their "First Names", How should we input their names into the Invelos database? "Last Names" first and "First Names" last or "First Names" first and "Last Names" last?
Some of the Korean movies in the Invelos database has such as:
(Volcano High) has their "Last Name" followed by a comma, then their "First Names".
(Marrying the Mafia) has their "Last Names" first with no commas a space then their "First Names".
(Oldboy) has a mixed/combination of "Last Names" first and "First Names" first. Also true for:
(Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance) has a mixed/combination of "Last Names" first and "First Names" first.
So how should we be entering the Asian Actor's names? Please reply, jcbuds105 |

That's the basic rule and has nothing to do with correctly parsing the names.
If you positively KNOW the correct way to parse the name into the three fields, you can use the "credited as" functionality, so that you enter the correct (= common) name into the fields and then add the way the actor appears in the end credits in the "credited as" field.
Of course, you need to document the common name to be true, for example by linking to the actor's website etc. | | | | Lutz |

But the bottom line is if you know the names, then parse it correctly and use the "as credited" function. It's still not quite clear of the correct way to input the Asian actors names. Also, I do recall reading the following, or was it just my mind playing games:
This is MY FINAL post period, I am finished. You people are not intelligent enouigh for me to asssit any further in any way. I have had it, someone wants to shut me up with the rutation System, I RIGHT nopw have something close 160 entries, yes that means that someone is voting on ANYTHINGH I say. I'll not go so far as to single users, though it is tempting trust me. I AM absolutely FINISHED, no forum post , no Contributions, no NOTHING, the idiocy of this place is astounding. My data wii now be exclusively MY DATA. There will be a DVDVProfiler that WLIL be the most accurate databaseof its kind in the world, but it will not be Online, that courtesy of a bunch of idiots is an impossible dream, it will be right here in MY COMPUTER. Good bye and GOOD RIDDANCE.
