This thread is inspired by Pete the Wolfman, so many thanks for the idea Pete.

As you all know the month of witches and ghouls is almost upon us, and what better way to celebrate than by a October Horror DVD Marathon?

I plan to watch at least one horror DVD a day during October, culminating with a bit of a movie fest on All Hallows Eve itself...

I hope to watch the following during October (I have planned them in advance as I have way too many horror DVD's to simply choose at random on the day.... not choosing in advance simply cuts back on potential viewing time  ):

Antropophagus
Autopsy
Axe
Baron Blood
Basket Case
Black Magic Rites
Bloodsucking Freaks
Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll
Bone Sickness
Braindead
Bride of Re-animator
The Burning
A Candle for the Devil
Cannibal Ferox
Cannibal Man
Cat in the Brain
The Child
Christine
The Church
The Cold Blooded Beast
Dellamorte Dellamore
Demonia
Dracula (1931)
Evilspeak
Eyes Without a Face
Frankenstein
The Bride of Frankenstein
Freaks
The House that Screamed
Ice From the Sun
The Incubus
The Invisible Man
Last Cannibal World
Lisa and the Devil
The House of Exorcism
The Living Dead Girl
Living Doll
The Lost Boys
The Mask of Satan
The Mill of the Stone Women
The Mummy
Murder Obsession
Nosferatu (1921)
numb
Peeping Tom
Phantom of Death
Prince of Darkness
Razor Blade Smile
Rossa Venezia
Satan's Baby Doll
Schramm
The Tourist Trap
Wolfen

I have chosen a sample of new and old, chilling and gory, comedy and bleak, from different Director's, and from different countries, which I think represents a good overview of the Horror genre.

As mentioned before this has been inspired by Addicted2DVD's Pete who for some time has had an October countdown graphic in his signature box....

... and so, a bloody Halloween to all

Yup... really looking forward to next month's marathon. Every year before it I abstain from horror for a week or so. But this year I agreed to go much longer then that without horror! As of today it has now been 55 days since I watched a horror movie! That... for me... is amazing in itself!

Last year was my personal best when I watched 84 Horror Movies and 34 Horror or Halloween Episodes of TV Shows. And I am determined to beat that record this year!

Every year I buy new horror... well new to my collection... for the marathon to enjoy. And I already hjave several new movies to watch this year already. I will be buying more in October too. But so far in the last couple months I have bought...

- The Changeling
- Dead Birds
- 976-Evil
- The Tingler
- The Breed
- Pulse
- Crazy Eights
- Lake Dead
- The House Where Evil Dwells
- Embrace of the Vampire
- The Dunwich Horror
- Burnt Offerings
- Swamp Thing
- Scanners
- The Girl Who Lives Down the Lane
- The Invasion
- Skeleton Man
- The Willies
- Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge
- Psycho II
- Psycho III
- Psycho IV: The Beginning
- Shadow Zone: The Undead Express

And for TV Series I have bought...
- Supernatural: Season 3
- Friday the 13th: The series: Season 1

Now I don't know how far I will actually get in watching them all as I also have a ton of old favorites I want to watch too.

Each year I have 2 goals when it comes to my marathon...
1. Watch 1 horror movie or horror/halloween TV Episode per day in October (This one is easy!)
2. Beat my personal best when it comes to totals. (84 Movies and 34 TV Eps.... this one will be hard!)

It's because we like you

Like Pete I do it too this year, so if you want to follow my marathon just go check the dvdcollectors website the october first.

If you want to see the list of horror movies that I could watch just go to the "my collection" in my signature and check the "possible for october marathon" tags.

Wow, I couldn't go cold turkey for that long!

I'll be impressed if you do. I think the only way I'd be able to watch that many is if I booked the whole of October off work, or didn't sleep! But after all the teasing you've endured (     ) I'm sure that you've got it in you!

There aren't many of those I have seen actually, which is amazing because according to DVD profiler I have 387 owned DVD's in my profile that have a horor genre tagged to them, so even watching one horror DVD a day it would take over a year to watch all my horror DVD's!

Well I wish you the best of luck, you'll have to keep us updated on how you are doing. I might do a special 'Halloween DVD's watched' post in this thread, just to keep up-to-date on how many I do in fact watch...

Pete,

I was scanning through your collection and noticed that you are missing one of my favorite horror films, Cemetary Man.

It can be snagged at DeepDiscount for 6.06 (US) and that is a helluva bargain (IMO) I think I paid every bit of 20$ for it, but have no regrets.

Here is a review to see if it may perk your interest,

Thanks... I will definitely be keeping everyone up to date on my marathon next month.

@deadman36g
Thanks for the recommendation... I never seen that one... I have added it to my list. I will do my best to get it for the marathon next month. But already have a load of titles I am considering.

Don't forget Hef's Halloween Spooktacular. You'll be absolutely horrified by the shameless hedonism. Plus it gives new meaning to the expression "painted women". Hosted by Elvira.

In somewhat similar vein, the Paul Lynde Halloween Special.
