I was wondering if anyone else out there is having issues with the Iron Man DVD? When trying to play it on my Pioneer 550-H player, the dvd freezes at several points, sometimes the player will just stop all together. I did a firmware update which stopped some but not all of the freezing.
Someone on another forum mentioned that they had issues with it on a sony player, and I heard that there was a bad batch of Blu-Ray discs.
I was wondering if this is an isolated thing, or if all the Iron Man DVD's are messed up. Anyone have any further information? |

Generally speaking, yes they require and use a firmware and that firmware can even be updated. That was the way to disable region locking and user operation prohibition in the early days of the DVD players. Nowadays region locking can be disabled in a hidden menu on most players in Germany. | | | Karsten

I didn't know that regular DVD players required firmware ?? Well it's a DVR, and yea, it has a firmware update, downloaded it off of Pioneer, burned it on a CD, and then popped it into the drive, 5-10 min later, it was all updated. |

what the heck are you talking about The Blu-Ray disc has features that use an online connection from a networked Blu-Ray player so for the Blu-Ray disc some people have found disconnecting from the network has helped, AIUI. | | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

The disc looks fine, i've never had an issue with this dvd player before, and someone else on another forum mentioned that their Sony player had problems playing the disc aswell. So I don't think it's just me. I've done multiple searches online, and keep coming up empty. So thats why I decided to post here. |

| | Posted: | | | | I have another player, which I tested the problem areas, and they seemed ok. It is a panasonic-DVD-827 model. I haven't had the opportunity to watch the entire movie through though. I think this is more a combatibility problem with the DVD and the DVR player. I am hoping that either A)Pioneer will get back to my email (their site claims that they get back within a reasonable amount of time) or B) someone else on the internet has the same DVR player as me and can say yes or no that they've experienced the same problems.
I watch 95% of my movies on the DVR, so it's preferable to have that one work. I do have a much older DVD player that is not hooked up, I may hook that up tonight or tomorrow to the same TV as my DVR, seems silly to hook up one DVD player just to play one movie. Alas, that may be my only solution.
