I have no use for another player, but hopefully someone will be able to take advantage of this.

Thank you for posting this Jon . I just placed my order . I've been planning on entering the Blu world and this just pushed me over the edge . I'll be getting a 42" 1080p LCD next month so I'll be set with this player.

I live in a small apartment. Anything larger than 42" and I'd have to rent the adjacent unit and knock out a wall   .

That's why I went with a 32" myself. Wasn't planning on getting one, but a friend of mine got the same tv (Westinghouse) before I did and really liked it and I read some good reviews, so I got it also.

Not only do I have to consider width, but also depth. Aren't Plasmas deeper that LCDs? In addition to size, don't Plasmas have a shorter life span compared to LCDs? I read somewhere that Plasmas only have a 10,000 hour +/- life span.

My brother has a Plasma ( 50 in ), can't remember what brand ( starts with the letter M ..?),, anyway his set runs so hot I can feel the heat when I approach the screen, Plus when we watch Hockey games in HD  the players are blurred., Yet my LCD rear projection Sony 46" doesn't throw off any heat, and the players are not in motion blur. The only thing I have to worry about ( besides my 5 year Granddaughter), is the life of the projection bulb.. 2 years?  $300 bucks ??

Viewing distance determines rhe picture size.
Panasonic seems to have the best reviews of the plasmas.
With LCDs about four brand are pretty close depending on the extras.

Most of the plasma screens available now have a 60,000 hour life rating -- the same as most LCDs. If you never turn off your TV, that is close on 7 years. Maybe the airport does that, but nobody does that at home. If you use a plasma screen for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, then 60,000 hours equates to over 20 years! Chances are you'll have a better, bigger screen by then, or totally new technology.

The 10,000 hour life may have been true a few years ago, mine is rated for 100,000 hours. (I think by the time I've used those no of hours I'll buy a new TV.)
The depth is 79mm.

The TV is the Panasonic TH-42PZ85B - and it gives a superb picture. (SD as well as Full HD).
