Does anyone know how to stop PowerDVD from automatically launching whenever a Blu-ray or HD DVD is inserted, i have set Autoplay in Windows to "Take no action" but PowerDVD still launches

I believe it should be -

Launch the program.

Right click, select "Configuration"

Select "Player" tab

Click "Advanced"

Click "File Association" tab

Uncheck "Play Automatically upon inserting disc"

This behavior can also be Operating System Depended
for XP:
  • Open Windows Explorer
  • Right-click on the dvd drive that has autoplay enabled
  • select Properties
  • Tab AutoPlay
  • in the selection box select DVD-movie
  • box below selection box select the action you want
  • do this for every type of media you put in that drive

  • this procedure could be different in Vista open the Vista help and search for autoplay
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

Indeed it is different in Vista.  If it were up to me, I would have left in the old XP method listed above, and also added the new Vista method.  But hey, my name is not Bill.  In Vista, there is a new Control Panel applet called AutoPlay.  There are individual options for inserting movie DVDs, Blu-Ray, HD DVD, cd audio, blank media of all types, games, pics, audio files, etc. etc. roughly 20 different choices.  You can set any of the 20 choices to your preference, or set all of them at once.

    DD.
