Just wondering if anyone has tried version 3 under Wine yet? My linux pc is rather dead at the moment, so not able to try until I get a new psu for it.

Hmmm, I keep seeing you writing that for quite some time already... Maybe now is a great time to get the repair going...?

I gave it a quick try yesterday on Kubuntu under Virtual PC 2003 and it was unusable. What ever I tried, there came a error-message I had to click away, and that made the nex pop up
I'll give it another try under native Kubuntu this weekend, but I wouldn't keep high hopes just now.

cya, Mithi

PS Although it might be that I just have to tweak Wine a bit, I'll see

Same here on actual Gentoo system and wine 0.9.32.

I see that Wine just released 0.9.33 if you are going to try it. I know I'll be watching this thread to view your report!

Thanks Mithi

Wouldn't that be a chance to increase the profiler market for Invelos? Officially supporting a wine setup? The installed linux user base is increasing. And since profiler 2.x seems to run under wine, it may (or may not) be that difficult to officially support wine.

No improvement with wine 0.9.33. A lot of error messages with "Invalid floating point operation".

Sebastian

I gave it a try under Kubuntu 6.10 with Wine 0.9.32 (without the VPC).
The same "Invalid floating point operation" invasion.
Switched "run as W2k" to "XP" in winecfg and still the same.

The problem is that as soon you "support" a platform, people expect you to test it (and retest for each new version of Wine etc), and typically this is a rather boring and time consuming task... meaning time is taken away from developing for the current supported platforms. And since it is boring it is demotivating, which has a huuuuge impact on a developers efficiency. Sure, it might be worth it (only Ken can judge that one), but don't expect Wine supports comes free (or even cheap).

I think most users use VMWare to run DVDProfiler under Linux. It works good but I have a problem to read out the discid from dvds. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. Have someone else the problem? I use the latest VMWare-Server with a WindowsXP virtual machine.

No changes with the latest wine 0.9.37 if someone cares.

I got Ubuntu 6.1 (or maybe it was 6.0) working under VPC2003 on an XP based machine last fall, if that helps any.

Just a quicky for you Linux users out there that may have missed it in the technical forum: DVD Profiler is now working under Wine (with the help of one or two workarounds). See this these threads for info.

We've also had some success under Mac as well.
This is a sig... ... ... yay...

Don't understand? Maybe DVDProfilerWiki.org does!
