| | Posted: | | | | This may have been covered in the contribution rules but I did not find it. We have many contributions that are straight to DVD. Disney is the best example of this. Would they be considered Film or Television. I am leaning towards film but I am not positive, and as it has already been a chore redoing ratings I thought I would ask for the group's opinion. |

Off the top of my head if it was never in a theater (Film) it probably never will be in a theater. It might show up on TV though. So i'd probably lean towards TV for straight-to-video stuff.
I'm open to other ideas though.

As for the majority of direct-to-video that has no rating (for instance, all of the Barbie animated movies), they're still movies, so I'd say rate them as films with NR. I wouldn't rate them as television unless they were shown on TV first. I agree if it has film ratings, then Film
If it has TV Ratings, then tv
If unsure, I would actually say most movies straight to dvd are film, just not good enough for the theater. IMO |

| | Posted: | | | | Agree with CharlieM; most straigt to DVD releases are really films rather than TV, though stuff like Jeremy Clarkson DVDs which are very like Top Gear distilled make life tricky... and in the UK we can't use ratings to decide since 1) Film and TV are the same and 2) there quite often NR anyway! And, just to add one (non-Disney) title that potentially messes things up I say "The Last Seduction" should be film despite being released on TV first, then at the cinema when the producers realised how good it was  (Apparently it's the reason Linda Fiorentino wasn't entered as best actress for the Oscars for the film) | | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |
