Apple is removing copy protection on iTunes now making it possible to copy songs to play on other devices. They're also dropping the price on some songs, depending of Recording Company, to 0.69 cent per song.

Good move, and about time

I had a few DRM free ones already but it's good news that soon a majority will be that way.

I hope it leads to the ability to sync my iPhone to multiple computers.  I'd love to be able to sync at home and at work!

My reading of the article is not that there will be no DRM, but that they will have at least an option of no DRM for every song.  Another article I saw said there is an extra .30 charge for the no DRM option, so it'll still be .99 for a non-DRM song, or possibly 1.29 if the record label want more money.  So not quite as rosy a picture, but we'll see what they actually do.

I just checked they want me to pay another € 67,26 to make my 364 titles, I bought in the past, DRM-free. And they call that an "offer"

Well, 0,18 per song seems reasonable, I wasn't expecting a freebie...

It's funny how quick people are to turn something positive into something negative.

Why worry about it?  There are a number of good programs on the market (mostly European origin) that remove DRM for streaming video, MP3, and Mac files.  Spend the money on that instead of giving those clowns an extra $.30 per song just because they're paranoid.

If you average $.25 a song, that's $91.00 US just to get what you ought to have in the first place from the gitgo.  You can buy a good DRM remover for $20.00.  Save the other $71.00 for more DVDs.
