I've been on vacation this week and not doing too much but catching up on MOVIES! YAY. Neway, I was watching "When Worlds Collide" tonight and I remembered from a long time ago watching "Crack In The World" I really wanted to watch that, soooooo off to look it up to order. Much to my sadness, it's not available!  I did notice that it remains in Paramount's library and hasn't been sold off somewhere down the line.

I'm wondering if anybody who reads up on the movie industry more than I knows if there will ever be a release date for that movie on DVD. I really don't even see that it's ever even been available on VHS.

Also, on the list of what I want is "The Satan Bug" I was able to catch that on TV not long ago.

Thanks!

'The Satan Bug' is available on VHS here but I can see no trace of Crack in The World - even on VHS as you stated.

I have no knowledge of a release date for either on DVD, unfortunately.

I think the problem at the moment is that studios are more interested in whipping out Blu-Ray releases, that re-releases or new releases of older titles on DVD has taken a back seat.

Sad to say but i think you're right; as DVD fans we were having a really good time of it over the last few years as studios dug out the more rare 'gems' from their back collections for release but with the advent of Blu-Ray that's where all their attention is being focussed in the same way they stopped concentrating on obscure VHS releases when DVD became popular (though VHS was never as popular in this way as DVD became).
It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong

Fixed that for you.

Sadly the only way I have ever seen Crack in the World and The Satan Bug has been on bootleg discs. Sad but true.

I am not aware of either title being available legally. BUT, thgere are still lots of films and TV which have not been released, I won't rule out a release at some point. Keep your fingers crossed.

THANKS EVERYBODY!
I have to agree that is seems that re-releasing titles on Blu-Ray has slowed down the system.

And on an old title such as Crack in the World, I don't think putting that copy on blu-ray is going to make it any more enjoyable or really increase the quality of the picture.

But it was worth a try!!!  And at least I do know that Paramont hasn't sold the title from their library as of yet, which hopefully means they have plans for it. It's really a pretty good movie for being filmed in Spain and being low budget.

Thanks again!

That's the one, and I bought one on eBay when I got it it was a bootleg, a good one, but a bootleg nonetheless.

Rory

(P.S. No I don't promote or condone bootlegging in any form, I bought this title in good faith. It was promoted as an import disc. It wasn't. )

Not quite true. The Satan Bug has been released in Sweden (R2). I own it. The Swedish title is "Bas 3 Top Secret"
Not sure if it's been released anywhere else, though...

I have only seen it on VHS here in the U.S., but if it's on DVD in Sweden (R2) maybe there's hope yet.

Very KEWL!

I've searched all over for it on DVD - I hope that a release here is somewhere in the works. I want it for my "Cold War" movie collection!
