Such as MGM titles distributed by Warner Bros. or Fox.

Is it acceptable to include the MGM Home Entertainment (or whatever studio) in the media company field along with the distributing studio if they are credited either by text or logo somewhere on the package?

I believe it would be acceptable. As I have stated it won't be acceptable here. Fox or Warner is the typical Distributor as you know. I think MGM HE is simply the owner of the title with Fox. In fact it's a real mess since some of MGM's catalog is owned and Distributed by Warner, Some of MGm's catalog is owned and I think still distributed by MGM HE, and some of the catalog is now distributed by Fox (notice i didn't call Fox an owner).   I THINK, I am not sure, that we can complicate this even further because there are MGM titles which are currently owned by Turner and distributed by Warner, see GWTW.

Based on the discussion concerning this field, yes, it would be acceptable.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Warner Bros do not distribute any MGM Home Entertainment titles. Warner Bros own outright all pre-1986 MGM films. Warner's MGM titles are inconsistently listed in the studio/media company fields. Most contributers list them in the studio field as first MGM, followed secondly by Warner Bros. Some contibutions show Warner only in the media company field but I'm not sure whether that is really corrrect because Warner Bros is a studio and they own the (MGM) films.

The original theatrical release company should be listed in the first studios field slot.  If that is MGM, then that is where they belong.  If it is Warner, then the same applies.

If Warner Bros. is simply the current owner of those films and the rights to them, rather than the original theatrical release studio, they should be listed in the media companies slot.
