For the first time in our 'cabled society'  north of the border ( Canada)., Our Television CRTC and CTV did not allow any American broadcast of the Superbowl., We were fed the feed of  NBC and all four channels from the USA ( two from Seattle / HD and analog, and two from Buffalo New York/ HD and analog ), all were fed to our Shaw Cable affiliate in western and Rogers Cable in eastern Canada .

We watched a ton of Tim Horton, Canadian Tire, London Drugs and Walmart ads.., all were probably done for well under $50,000 in production costs. Did you know that Nature Value Snack bars are on sale next week at Walmart?  ..

We are all P-O'd  big time.. as well as our local affiliate for across Canada --CTV,, They no way paid $3,000,000 for these 30 second advertisements.., They just scoop the air waves and divy them out...
Once again us Canadians are left in the dark and have no idea what the latest and funniest Budweiser commercials are going to be making the rounds tomorrow on the talk shows and Youtube entries..
All we do know is the Steelers are once again Champs ......

Can you go to hulu or nbc.com and view the commercials?
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

I only watched it for the movie trailers. But I got so bored & tired I shut it off at the half time, so I missed the Transformers 2 trailer and perhaps a few others.

Saw the following.

G.I. Joe - Seemed ok for an action film, but some of the action was obvious CGI.
Fast and the Furious - More of the same, not too excited for it.
Land of the Lost - Looks ok, but seemed to be a different take of the concept of the tv series. Sure have the Sleestaks & dinos but seemed to be more of being lost in a land where different time lines are all in one locale rather than just being in the prehistoric era.
Star Trek - Looks very good.
Up - Kind of disappointed in it now, looked kind of boring to me.
Monsters vs. Aliens - Looks very good, and funny and exciting.

Based on those that I saw I'm most interested in seeing Star Trek & Monsters vs. Aliens.
Somewhat interested in G.I. Joe, Fast & the Furious.
Lost interest in Land of the Lost & Up.

Oh and saw that trailer for that Jack Black film, (whatever it's called) and it looked unfunny to me. Zero interest.

We only get our own horrible broadcast over here too. They almost missed the anthem, missed the coin toss and missed the arrival of the players. Plus we also don't get the commercials, obviously.

Well, a few can be watched here:

But all the ads and more are available on youtube..

Apparently some people in Arizona got a slightly different version -

US sports fans in Arizona got a surprise when their TV coverage of American football's Super Bowl was interrupted by a pornographic film.

The fact that people are watching it for the ads says something!

I also used to watch on ARD.. but I switched to ESPN America (formally NASN [North American Sports Network]) two years ago.  It is awesome to see the games every week of the season and to keep the American announcers and commentaries.  But still no US commercials, they just repeat the same 5 or so over and over and over again...
