The best way I've seen was Mark's idea of creating a fake manual profile called "Blu Ray", then all you need to do is attach all your blu-rays to this profile as box set contents. This will file all your blu-rays together.
Another option is, if you don't use your Ordered or Wishlist tabs, to use one of those to list them.
Another way is to create different databases for them, but the downside is only one database can be uploaded online.

If you desire quick access to your BDs, you can add a button on the layout to bring them to the top of your collection list, one drawback to this is that you can't apply any other sort order without scattering them. For this reason I don't use this myself.  Ideally we'd be able to add filters to the toolbars too.

Right click any button on the toolbars, select customise, select commands tab, select collection in the left pane, select media type in the right panel (about half way down) then drag the 'descending' button directly below that onto a toolbar and rename it to BDs or whatever you want.  Of course you could just add the media type column and use that but this will work in thumbnail view too.
