| | Posted: | | | | How to contribute voice over soundtrack. I have a few dvd's bd's that have Polish DD 5.1 V.O. Where an narrator says all the lines in the script of the movie. He/she has all "roles" and we can hear the english audiotrack under his/her narration. Should I add it as Polish DD 5.1 or DD 5.1 Audio Descripyion??  | | | "What's God?"

| | Posted: | | | | If he is actually reading the script and doing all the parts then i'd say Polish. (That is almost funny by definition, regardless of the language.)
Audio Description is, i believe, describing action on the screen for someone who can't see it. | | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

I can only say, What the hell??!!, this is even words than dubbing the audio. Fortunately i've never seen those (never select Polish, my polish is a but rusty i may add). On a side note< why would anyone want to watch a movie like that, especially if you can still here the background english. This must be the worst way ever to watch a film and i feel sorry for the polish people for having to suffer this experience. Paul |

I admit I've listened to such a track for a few minutes once, when I was checking the various audiotracks in PowerDVD, and it's indeed a somewhat strange combination of excruciatingly painful and extremely funny to watch, what with the single voice doing all the characters, droning on with an extremely monotone voice in a language you don't understand, with the English voices still in the background. One would indeed start to feel sorry for the Polish viewer, but I imagine that most of them will just select the English soundtrack and turn on the subtitles. As I recall the situation back then was that on Polish TV you'd have this awkward Polish voice-over (as described by the OP), however in the cinemas they were playing the original soundtrack with Polish subtitles. Don't know if this is still the case. |
