I've come across a situation that I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do, so I'm running this by you all.

A profile I am auditing is an anime based off of a manga by CLAMP. CLAMP is a group of manga artists (4 females I believe) and are fairly well known in both Japan and the US for their works. Here's a link if it helps: CLAMP

In the anime it states "Original Story By CLAMP", with no mention of the individual members involved. This is most often the case and even looking at CLT, it shows 104/137 credited as such.  Now I'm not sure if it would be considered as a company, but it *is* a group of people and the rules state: "List individual credits only, not company name credits."

I see I could do 4 possible things here:

1. Just credit it as Original Material by CLAMP.

2. Find which 4 members of CLAMP (there have been several members to leave the group) and credit just those 4 as Original Material by, omiting CLAMP all together.

3. Credit all 5. The 4 members plus the CLAMP all credited as Original Material By. **This is curently how this specific profile.**

4. Credit just the 4 members but use the Credited As feature for CLAMP for all 4 members.

Since CLAMP is such a known entity among anime and manga alike, I'm hesitant to remove that name completely, but I'm open to the opinions to you all as to what I should do here. Thanks!

If you can provide proof that the 4 people are being credited as 'CLAMP', then I would use the 'credited as' option.

I consider CLAMP as company and leave it out of the Crew section and remove the entry from existing profiles. We don't enter Game Companys with "Original Material" Credit like Aquaplus or Caramel-Box, so why should a Manga Company be an exception? Many Animes have Companys credited for Original Material/Story and with the current rules we can't enter them.

I have no experience of this group, but from reading that Wiki page they don't sound like a company, more like a group in a similar vein to a music group.
I would therefore agree with Unicus that it's option 4: list the 4 members in the crew list and put "CLAMP" in the credited as box for each of them. Don't give CLAMP it's own 5th credit.

Chobits by any chance? I would be interested in audited episode credits. The German release, that I have, only has the credits in Kanji.

Thanks so much for your replies. It would be fairly easy to find who the 4 members that originally made the manga, so I think I'm going to go with option 4 as many of you have suggested, unless this conversation swings heavily towards a different direction.  I really like the comparison northbloke made. I've never thought of them as similiar to a musical group, and that is much like what they are. Always 4 female manga artists that go by the name of CLAMP as a group.

On top of this, I beleive that Kadokawa, a Japanese publishing company, owns the publishing rights to all their works.

Actually it is for "X" the TV series, but I do own the region 1 version of Chobits and will get around to that series someday. Lots of DVDs to audit...

I would credit them by name and credited as "CLAMP" as well.

They are definitely not a company.  They're authors & artists - just consider a book like Wanted that has multiple authors (Mark Millar & J.G. Jones).  Both get credited.  Well, with CLAMP it's just that the 4 publish under a single name.

Since X started serializing in 1992 and stopped publishing in 2003, I'd just credit the main 4 CLAMP members (Okawa Nanase, Mokona, Nekoi Tsubaki, and Igarashi Satsuki) since the last members of the team that left were in 92 & 93 and therefore wouldn't have had much to do with the creation of X
