| | Posted: | | | | Got a rabbit Monday, thought I'd share a few pics.     He's a Dwarf Lop, called Nibbler and is about 11 weeks old. He loves running around the garden and munching on tasty grass. He's very friendly and loves being petted, if you stop for too long he'll nuzzle you 'till you carry on  He's not yet confident enough to go down the ramp in his hutch as it's a bit slippery, but today I lined the ramp and the lower level with turf so hopefully he'll eventually graze his way down  Plus he'll have more grip on the grass. As he's my first ever pet I'd appreciate any tips/advice if there are any experienced bunny owners on here. |

Hide all electric cables!! Rabbits tend to eating them. He'll be spending all but the coldest days/nights outdoors so that wont be much of a problem. While building the hutch he spent the night in the conservatory in a pen we'd bought for the garden, I unplugged the lamp in there anyway just in case he got out. Now that I've put the turf on the ramp he's running up and down like there's no tomorrow When I let him out he'll even pop back into his hutch for a drink then go back out to play all on his own, clever bunny!  |

| | Posted: | | | | Any current/former rabbit owners ever had any problems with the VHD vaccination? Nibs had his first one on Sunday and when I let him out today I noticed he was limping. He's not putting any weight on his front right leg.
At first I thought that he'd had a fall and damaged his leg, but after feeling his paw and him not flinching in any way I thought I'd do a bit of googling. The results indicated that this isn't a first and that many rabbits can suffer from 'VHD-limp' after having the vaccine. From what people have said this side-effect also wears off after a day or two, thankfully.
So has anyone ever encountered this? And do the booster shots have the same side-effect or is it just the first one? |
