Hey everyone! i know it's still early but i have been looking for some new/different halloween/scary theme cartoons for my kids. right now they have been watching Mad, mad, mad monsters, Bugs bunny's Halloween hijinks, and disney's monster bash. all these are on vhs(go figure) and i can't find them on dvd yet. they do watch the garfield halloween special along with alvin and the chipmunks trick or treason. i want to get The Flintstones Meet Rockula and Frankenstone, didn't know if that one was on dvd yet. Suggestions? their ages are 3 and 2 and my daughter hates the beetlejuice cartoons!

Have you tried Mad Monster Party?  Done by Rankin/Bass and the DVD is outstanding.

i do own that. its kind of slow to start and i think they lose interest.  i myself don't like that dvd nearly as well as their other classics Rudolph and Frosty, but i guess it's maybe because i never heard of mad monster party untill i was older. thanks for the input. i might give it a try again i figured they might like it when they got a little older anyway, my son(2 yrs. old) LOVES anything with monsters in it. We have watched the same Scooby doo episodes over and over because they have Frankie, Wolfman, and Dracky(as he calls them!)

All of "The Simpsons" Halloween specials!
You can't start too early!

It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

There are a few that I really like that are child friendly.

Simpsons, The: Treehouse Of Horror
It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Spaced Invaders

The last one I do not own and couldn't find a name for.  It was a Disney Villians one and it was really great as well.

Back before many VHS tapes were offered for sale, back when every tape Disney made was priced for rental, they had a tape called Walt Disney Home Video Cartoon Classics Volume 3: "Scary Tales" -- some Donald Duck cartoons, but a few others as well, all with Halloween & other scary themes. Even at its increased price, I was tempted to buy it. Do not confuse this with Cartoon Classics Volume 13: "Donald's Scary Tales" which only has the three Donald Duck cartoons, but not "Skeleton Dance" "Haunted House" or "Pluto's Judgement Day."

It might be available on the used market.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

we own the treehouse of horror dvd that has a few episodes on it. actually i think some of the scooby doo cartoons are as scary but they don't seem to mind. The language in the simpsons is the only thing i am concerned with.

i actually thought about buying the vhs tape from amazon. i read some reviews and i guess the skeleton dance was one of the best cartoons from the original. to buy the vhs used with the original cartoons is like $40! i'll have to keep watching ebay! Thanks!

Melvin the Monster, a cartoon series from the 1960s is pretty clever and holds up well.  It's on DVD from Shout Factory.
