| Posted: | | | | Dear Members! I found out that lots of members here are afraid to turn in contributions because of the kind of critics. What is so difficult to be kind and helpful to new members who don´t know the rules so perfectly? I nice hint could help more than some strange word... Please think it over... Greets Lothar |

| Posted: | | | | I agree, but as I've written before, it's hard to write kind words when the comment field is so small. I do occationally PM, though. |

I agree with this... but another consideration would be the contributors reading more into the comments then was meant. I mean we have members all over the world and trying to not only understand what is being said... but also in context can be hard for some. But I definitely agree that a longer comment field would help. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Unfortunately we have some of these new users wjo we are supposed to be patient with, that get very nasty and abusive in their own right. Then ther are users who will read a Pm and not even bother to respond in any way, something which I consider to be quite rude. Just like so many other things, it's a two way street. You should have seen the "abuse" I got way back when I was "newb"...whew!!!! Turned my hair gray. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | i also thought any "no" vote was a personal attack when i first became a member. i remember i contributed a movie and added the runtime direct from the back of dvd case. i got a no vote because the actual time of the dvd was off like 10 or 15 minutes from what the back said. i didn't know it ever was wrong! so i wrote a forum topic about picky users..just to vent a little. got a lot of negative vibes from the members. after a couple PM's i was cool and started to realize that a no vote isn't a attack on ME but rather a way to make the site as accurate as possible. i hope to make alot of DVD Profiler friends along the way and not tick off too many!! Believe me i NEED all the help i can get! I have 3 kids ages 3, 2, and 2 months....have pity on me! |

| Posted: | | | | Suggestion, to who ever has the control over the contribution rules: reorganize them in an outline format. Example: I. A. 1. a. b. 2. B. II.
Then those wishing to point out an error(s) in contributions would not have be so verbose, (quoting the rules) but reference the section number of the rules violation in question. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Skip Awww you remember? I hope i have gotten a little better and i know i have bugged you quite a bit with the PM's. like i said i hope to make a few profiler friends along the way. As far as new users contributing i hope every new user wants to contribute to this awesome program. Why not? the only thing i can't stand is sloppy contributions such as misspelled cast member names! Yuck!! Nobody is perfect. i would say try and try and try again as long as effort is put into it! |

| Posted: | | | | I just try to be friendly with all users, a revolutionary concept! When someone contributes something that's incorrect, I try to say in clear terms what it is that's wrong, and often will offer fixes, like "re-scan the cover but turn the brightness up and color down" if scans are too dark and over-saturated with color. Or, "please provide a source" if doing a credited as. Be nice to all, and more will get done and get done better. Can't we all just get along? |

Same here; I do try to be polite and helpful in my No vote notes but the field size does make it difficult sometimes not to come across as a bit brusque just to make sure the actual No vote reason is clear. If it's a bit complicated I do also sometimes follow up with a PM but, at the same time, don't want the contributor bombarded with PMs on the same subject if other users may have done the same, as that might be considered just as upsetting by some! | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |
