I gather from reading about scanning that a "big" Parity Inner Failure (PIF) peak is bad.

If I scan a new / clean glass mastered DVD, I often see PIF peaks of only two, three or four and an overall disc quality of 97-99 percent.

Understanding that no two readers / DVD players are the same, I would still like to have a "rule of thumb" for single PIF peak values that represent when a DVD would generate a skip or stall on:

25 percent
50 percent
75 percent, or

almost all

Of players maintained in good operating condition.

This is a question about AVERAGES across brands and models. I understand that brand new machines of a given model might vary widely in performance.

If you could direct me to articles that discuss conventional wisdom about what PI/PIE/PIF/POF errors of a given magnitude for general playability, that would also help.
