| Posted: | | | | Good day, Sirs,
all work for nothing.
A moment ago I tried to contribute improvements to a profile, but found out that all three faulty / incomplete items were locked.
What is the standard, tried and tested practice to get items unlocked?
And do I understand it right: you only have to find five illustrious characters to lock some profiles? Please send me a private message if you are interested in this.

| Posted: | | | | The entire locks system should be removed in its entirety. Or at the very least, whenever the program and/or the rules are updated, any locks on affected sections should automatically be removed throughout the database. For example: the minute there are new crew categories added to the program, any outstanding locks on the crew section should automatically dissolve. Additionally, cast and crew should NEVER be able to be locked, as common names are ever-changing, and what is "correct" for our purposes today, is not necessarily "correct" tomorrow. I would suggest to open a support ticket. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

This happens from time to time, bbbb. The best approach is to create a post for UPC and Title, explain what the issue is that you are dealing with and request users to unlock the title.
But your editorial comment was very interesting.

I would suggest to open a support ticket. I kinda see what you're saying, but have to disagree. You need to have a way to say "no thanks" if you don't want, like, or agree with the update. Voting no isn't usually enough. Then, you always have the opition to unlock and accept an update. As long as I'm shown what updates are incoming and can preview them, it's perfect in my eyes. Plus I like to keep my cast and crew under names I know them as, which doesn't always match what the CLT says. I'm sure I'm not alone here. One question I do have which kinda deals with this same issue. When a crew gets updated, but mine is locked due to having custom roles in my local, would nlocking and taking the crew update erase my custom roles? If not, the program is perfect as it is. I haven't tried it yet as it hasn't come up on anything with custom crew, but the more audits I do, the more custom crew roles I get. |

These locks, just like the ones in your local, prevent data from being changed. Quote: One question I do have which kinda deals with this same issue. From what I have heard, your custom crew roles will be erased. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. I think you misunderstand what the topic is, bigdaddyhorse. The lock is for the online database (the main database) not your local. I would prefer that it stays. The only way to stop those contributors trying to add cast/crew to movie boxset parent profiles. It gets tiresome seeing a contribution adding cast to the Back to the Future parent profile for the umpteen time. | Posted: | | | | Although potentially useful, very few of the profiles in the online database appear to be actually locked. Most have no or only one lock vote. Or is that just my collection being atypical? I did contribute about half of my profiles myself. | | | Hans |

I'll try the variant with the public letter of request to the blockers, some times or other. I do not want to bother the support though, for it is only about minor changes like moving the Media Company to its slot in blocked Studios, or italizing movie titles and adding trademarks in a blocked Overview. Thank you both, Sirs. PS: Still need two more ambivalent persons with special interest in this topic, please send a private message. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. Whereas correcting a b-locked profile is impossible from the start.
