Gossip websites in the U.S. are reporting the actor died last night in a hospital in Los Angeles. DeLuise was best known as a comic actor in the 1970's and 80's, starring in movies like The Cannonball Run and Smokey and The Bandit II.

There are a few sites reporting this. I've only seen him in a few things but he always seemed to be a great actor.

He also played in a few Mel Brooks films including History of the World and Blazing Saddles.  He was also a dear and devoted friend to Burt Renyolds for years.  Our thoughts should be with his as well.

The AP has also mentioned his passing. He wasn't only a funny comedian/actor, but from what I understand a great chef as well. He will be missed, but thankfully we have his DVDs. R.I.P Dom.

He was simply superb in 'The Glass Bottom Boat'.

A sad loss, indeed.

I first experienced Dom's work in either Blazing Saddles or The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, at a very young age. His comedic timing was unsurpassed, as was his physical comedy, IMHO.

I'm planning a Dom marathon right now, beginning with Blazing Saddles.

RIP, Mr. DeLuise.

Rainbow Connection seems very appropriate today. I can barely even listen to it anymore, because the one of the last times i listened to it was at Disney's Muppet Show exhibit and they played it in honor of Jim Henson.

RIP Dom DeLuise

The last couple days I been watching his son (Peter DeLuise) in the classic '80s series 21 Jump Street... Dom DeLuise did a guest appearance in 1 or 2 episodes if I remember correctly.
