Does "ALL" mean my Blu-Ray player is reagion free when it come to DVD-Video? |

The newer one is in pieces in the trash can). I'm in the USA yet have a decent selection of region 2 dvds and was wondering if there's any know bluray players that are region free (or hackable) when it comes to standard dvd play. Anyone know of, hear of or read about anything like this? I might as well go for it all with the next player, upconverting, Blu and region free if possible. Too bad those are all a bit more than I was thinking of paying, but it's good to know they exist and hopefully will be more affordable if my player can make it a few more months. I've been trying to look on videohelp, but couldn't locate a section for just BR hacks, looks like they're mixed in with all the standard players, making searching and comparing more difficlut.  If anyone has first hand experience with any of the players on Randall's link, please share your thoughts and opinions. $400 wouldn't be so harsh if I could lose the "I hope this really works" thoughts, which are making it feel like an expensive gamble right now. | | | | Last edited: by bigdaddyhorse |

From what I read is you need to install a mod chip if you want to play region free bluray disc. You however can buy a remote to unlock region free service code for dvd's playback. I just paid $257 for my Panasonic bd-60 and I am not about to break it. To pay $560 or so for a region free one seems to high and not important to me.
