| Posted: | | | | Good day, Sirs,
I've just watched a horror classic from 1958 with mind-blowing special effects, I was mesmerized.
For that there's one crew member credited, in the opening, as "Special Photographic Effects".
Verbatim against the rules. But he did what the rules cover contentswise with Visual/Digital/Special/SpecialVisual Effects.
Should I enter him?

| Posted: | | | | It is at this time a violation, absolutely. Keep it local using the Other Role. that way you can maintain the data and it won't be Contributed. Perhaps this will be changed at some point, maybe soon, but not now.
Tim got it right, except that he is NOT following the Rules.

Incorrect, that's what the passage "or direct translations" in the crew credit rules is for. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! Here we have a valid 'Special Effects' credit that, technically, is not allowed because of the word 'Photographic'. It just seems silly to me. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. | Posted: | | | | IMHO, "Special Photographic Effects" on any movie pre-1980 directly translates to "Special Effects". We need some new wordings on a few things crew-related. |

| Posted: | | | | As I do most of my work pre '60, I've been entering these credits and submitting them. I'd say that the voters and screeners both accept them, but I honestly don't know how thoroughly I'm checked so it may not carry that much weight.
For me, the bottom line is that there is typically only one person credited for any kind of effects work on these old films. Regardless of how it's worded, this is the person I'm after. |
