Here in Australia we have a M rating.  This means Moderate violence and themes, Moderate sex scene, Moderate coarse langue.  Recomended for mature audience 15 and over.  What would be the equivelant for the USA?

You can find the MPAA ratings here

I have learned that the rating criteria are heavily dependent on the culture. So you can find quite the differences in how the same movie is rated in different countries.

For example, visual violence (bullet holes, chopped arms) is a reason for a higher rating in Germany. Nudity is not.
