| Posted: | | | | I am in the process of auditing all my Music DVDs. Two questions came up. 1.) If I am right the Cast should be following: Peter Blabla - Vocals Michael BluBlu - Guitar ... and NOT Peter Blabla - Himself Michael Blabla - Himself ... Is my guessing correct here ? 2.) I have a hard time seperating Media Companies from Studios with Music DVDs. You hardly see any studios in the actual credits of the music videos or live concerts. On the back of the cover are mostly various companies. For Example: The Verve: This is Music: The Singles 92-08 Nothing can be seen in the credits. On the back cover you see: Virging Records, EMI and Metropolis DVD. Any suggestions how to handle this ?. Right now I would add them all as Media Companies, but I am far from being sure on this. cheers Donnie | | | www.tvmaze.com |

| Posted: | | | | Not something I collect so don't know what they look like in any credits (are there even credits?)
If there is credits... is it just a list of people... if so you should be fine that way.
But if there is some sort of role for them whether himself/herself or vocals/guitar or what have you that is the role that would need to be used.
Sorry can offer no help at all on the studios | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

| Posted: | | | | If there are credits with Roles, use the Roles.
Otherwise, describing what they did (Vocals, etc) would be more useful information than to add "Himself" (which i probably wouldn't do simply because it's redundant). | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! | | | Last edited: by tweeter |

| Posted: | | | | Looking at 724354-427091 from your collection I think I would enter Metropolis as the MC & Virgin Records as a Studio & I'm not sure about EMI Records. That is based on what is written next to their respective names. |

cheers Donnie I agree with what Addicted2DVD & Tweeter have already said about the roles. You mentioned "The Verve: This is Music: The Singles 92-08" - which is probably just a compilation of videos from various years, so I wouldn't be surprised that it lacked a studio there. Most music concert DVD's on the other hand either list a "production studio" in the end concert credits, or none at all. The ones listed on the back cover of Music DVD's are usually just the various record companies and distributors (the same as CD's generally do) and I would personally add them to Media Companies. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | I just checked my 'music' genre and discovered a few things. 1. Half the concert videos I have ( music) have either no role, or like you say self, (i.e. Woodstock, Rattle & Hum)) 2. The other half do have roles such as guitars/ bass/ drums / vocals etc. ( RS Live at the Max) 3. I have a lot of titles where I have ticked off the Music box even though they are not musicals or concerts.., Titles such as Fantasia.. Cirque du Soleil titles .. I wish there was a genre for concerts .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

| Posted: | | | | I have quite a few music DVDs. Here's how I handle them:
1) Peter Blabla - Vocals Michael BluBlu - Guitar (if that's what the credits on disc are - or in case there are no credits at all, you could do this marking them as uncredited and providing a time stamp and supporting documentation for their identification).
2) Production companies, if any (you won't find them for a collection of music videos, but more often for concert dvds), can mostly be found in the end credits, occasionally in the opening titles.
What's on the back of DVD covers is usually media companies. |
