Alright, got a question (and really, not trying to stir anything up). I submitted the front cover of the Alien Quadrilogy because it has a 20th Century Fox logo watermark on the lower right corner. Well, I also noticed the back has a watermark on it (this was already submitted and accepted somehow). Anyway, I don't have the back cover anymore so rather than leaving the front with its watermark, I submitted it and asked if anyone has the back if they could scan and submit it (only got 1 vote so I guess not many own the set). Well, my contribution was declined due to: "The contributed cover scan includes a watermark. Please submit only cover scans you have scanned directly."

This was my contribution notes:
"- Added Scan of Front Cover. Since I no longer have the back, I could not provide it, so I'm hoping anyone reading this, if you could submit it to override the current back which does have a copyright watermark on it. Not sure how this got through, but hopefully it can be corrected. Also note, the current front cover has a 20th Century Fox watermark on the lower right corner which is why I submitted my scan."

What do you think should be done? Should I resubmit and remove the back cover which has the watermark on it? Again, not sure how it got approved first yet was caught this time (and was not submitted by me) and got declined. Makes sense since I was at least trying to correct the front cover watermark. If I actually had the back cover (which I looked for), I would've submitted it.

Just to note: this is the outer box and the back is one of those removable slips.

you can always ask the screeners to remove the cover art as it contains the watermark ( property of ?) ,, I  Don't have this set so can't help you ., But  if the artwork is removed you could keep yours (watermarked) and wait for for someone who buys to only find out there is no artwork,. and they' ll submit new , you'll get notified to that new update.. Otherwise the artwork will stay almost forever until updated, No artwork would probably get a faster response .

edit:  Now I'm confused , just looked up upc 024543098478. for this box set and in the data base there is NO watermark that I can see.. on both sides of set ..

What is this watermark again??

The UPC is 086162000010 (should've put that in my initial post)

Also, how do I ask screeners to remove the watermarked image?

The  alien  quad      UPC is 086162000010    has  the rear cover for  alien quad upc    024543098478 as well. Rear cover not only watermarked but wrong cover as well.

alien  quad      UPC is 086162000010 also has these children,
024543-098423 (United States)
086162-104329 (United States)
Disc ID: 3C58-BD50 (United States)
Disc ID: 42A8-8AF1 (United States)

I would thought they would have all been by disc Id  and more, but I can't check this because  I have alien quad upc    024543098478.

I have a different question, Movieman

20th century Fox Home entertainment with a UPC of 086162000010? I don't think so, TCFHER use 024543-xxxxx, never seen it any other way in US Region 1. It is certainly not the Alien Quad that was released in the US, the UPC on the back cover is the US release. If you ask me I think the profile needs to be removed PERIOD. The movies are also listed by UPC as it were a Keep Cased Bioxset which Alien Quad never was. It was released as a 9-Disc Digipak. Something strange is going but that UPC is fictitious.

This profile goes back a very long way and has some very interesting Contributors to it, BUT it appears to me to be totally erroneous and should be completely removed. BTW the fact the images are watermarked and real covers have never been scanned further indicates to me that this profile is bogus and needs to be removed. Even the images at Intervocative are incorrect and watermarked, I believe this is a bogus profile and needs to disappear.

Not sure how I entered it into DVDP. Could be I did a search and added that way...

I went ahead and submitted the cover again with a note about the profile and ask them for it to be removed.

Thanks guys.

I still own the Alien Legacy set and all profiles (parent & 4 children) all have UPC#s that begin with 086162.

And that is indeed a Region 1 set.

So it's very possible.

As far as this one, I did a search for the UPC# on http://dvdlist.kazart.com/DVDList2.php and it didn't show up. So it doesn't look like a legit UPC#.

But the other UPC# does result in a correct listing for the Alien Quadrilogy set.

But this isn't an Alien legacy profile, it's an Alien Quad profile, one which apparently has never been updated with correct covers to match the UPC which indicates to me after six years , that it is bogus.

Interestingly enough, I can find Alien Legacy available with 024543, but your site only lists 086162, that's rather curious, but indicates to me that was probably about the time tha TCFHE made a UPC change to the current 024543.

But I definitely the Alien Quad is bad.

Seems so. BTW, according to the records on this, profile was contributed in 2007... Was it just a straight copy because I assume we all had to enter these manually (I wasn't around during the Intervocative days).

LOL, no, no Movieman this profile goes all the way bclk to 2003, April I thin it was. I checked the Intervocative legacy data. And as I said I am surprised at some of the users involved and that no one had picked up on the Cover UPC issue long before now, but then again, since it appears to be bogus, who would look for it.<shrugs>

Maybe things like this are a good reason to implement a feature that some users have asked for before, namely to have a count of the number of users that own a profile.
All profiles with only 1 (or even 0?) owners would bear some scrutiy to establish whether they are bogus (the profiles, not the owners).
