| | Posted: | | | | This is the worst Blu-Ray I ever brought as far as loading. I pop it in and it connects to the internet then downloads a update. 10 mins later I get a yellow icon with a power bar seems locked up or something. Then 2 mins later movie finale starts.
This crap maybe why people still buy DVD's over Blu-Ray's. The movie itself is good. |

Most Blu-rays I have load quasi-instantly or offer me a choice to update BD-Live features or not. Crank 2 is just the exception to the rule.
Anyway, as a general rule I prefer Blu-ray over DVD. Haven't bought a DVD anymore in the past year because I prefer the increase in quality (both visuals and sound) of Blu-ray. To each his own I guess. | | | Blu-ray collection

I think Crank 2 is good and it dry dity humor made me laugh mostly because it was so dumb you had to it not as good as the first one. Rent the movie and you will see what I am saying.
Lion Gates no where on the case did it say anything about BD-Live it's just spam telling you of up coming movies.
The bar say Saw VI coming 10/23/09 that is retarded. How many Saws movies do you need? Same plot only different is in Saw you didn't expect the ending. Then they use the same plot over for the rest. | | | | Last edited: by Randall_Lind |

The ones marked single layer seem to load much quicker, and duals take a while.
Big Trouble in Little China was the worst for me so far. It felt like it took 5 minutes, but was probably closer to 2.5.
Randall, have you seen Saw 5? With the exception of part 4, which was a mess, that series just keeps getting better and deeper. 5 was more of a noir film set in the Saw universe. |

All it means is you'd have to download any updates (in my case onto a flash drive) and install them manually (which just means sticking in the flash drive or CD and letting it go to work). I also have a Panasonic player which tells me when there's an update when I start it up.
Otherwise, I don't think it effects movie playback having no internet connection. |

Regarding such problems, I had it once with another disc. This can happen if you want to update close to release date and the servers are saturated. I had that happen with Transformers (US edition). Two things you can do:
1. Wait. Just stop the update process and relaunch at a later time when the servers aren't so busy
2. Stop the update process, turn off automatic BD Live update in your player's settings and relaunch the disc. | | | Blu-ray collection

If not: What happens to players that don't have an internet connection? My player doesn't have BD-Live either, so that has nothing to do with the long load times, at least in my case. Watched W. last night, another LionsGate disc, and it took longer than Big Trouble to load, well over 3 minutes to get the first trailer. Maybe it takes so long as most discs I've watched have been library check-outs. I have to clean 9 out of every 9 and a half discs I get from them, they're all covered in figerprints or dust (I do clean them all before trying to play them, first time I didn't and saw how bad a small fingerprint can disrupt a BD viewing experience). Of course my Hostel 2 I bought used also took over 2 minutes to load (just to get to the menus/trailers, add another minute or so to get the film rolling). So from what else I've read, if I had BD-Live it would be even longer load times? The price for hi-def I guess. | | | | Last edited: by bigdaddyhorse |

I've been wanting to rent it through Netflix and for the first time that I can remember I got an email from them stating the "technical problems" with this title forced them to remove it temporaily from my queue (with a change to DVD) as they try to get replacement discs that WILL work. Once again, another of the myriad examples of why I hate Blu-ray as a format (love the picture and audio though!). Patience...  |
