Hello

A while ago someone posted a site they use to get the UPCs for pre-release dvds/blu-rays.

I seem to have misplaced the link to the DVD site.

I've got BestBluRayDeals and CinemaSquid for BDs but nothing for DVDs.

Any suggestions.

Borders used to be good (for EANs) but I think they've been taken over by The Hut (because they were bad at supplying DVDs!).

The two sites you can still use are:

DVD Source
and
Select Cheaper (do not order from Select though... I hear very bad things about them)

but they're not the best sites at getting pre-orders listed early.

However yesterday I discovered that Amazon seems to have a set of pages with this data that you normally don't see.
For the title you're interested in go to the main page for it at Amazon.co.uk and copy the AISN number of the title from their data.

In a different window paste this number on to the end of:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d.html?pd=1&l=Product Details&a=

and it gives you a short text page with the EAN as well as release date, sales rank and media company.

A little trick I use for more obscure titles is to do a Google search.  For example, most Hong Kong, Malaysian, Korean, etc. retailers lack any indication of the UPC.  If I Google "[Title] UPC Hong Kong", it will often reveal the info on the results page.

HKflix does have the UPC for these titles, but not on their page.  The Google search usually finds the info in its results page.

www.dvd-subtitles.com is an excellent site for UK UPC's on pre-releases.

The British Video Association (http://www.bva.org.uk) is also a good source for this information.
