| Posted: | | | | Good evening, Sirs,
while I can manage certain crew credits already quiet well, for example Director, others sometimes still cause me problems.
If a crew member is credited as "Makeup, Hair & Special Effects Designer", does it mean, besides the 'Make-up Artist', an additional 'Visual Effects' or 'Make-up Effects' listing?
The budget for the film was low.

Nothing in the credit leads me to say Makeup Effects. If the end credit was something like "Special Makeup Effects Designer" then Makeup Effects would fit. |

I agree. As do I. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. | Posted: | | | | While it could be read: 1. Makeup Effects Designer, 2. Hair Effects Designer, and 3. Special Effects Designer,
the unlikelihood of # 2 leads me to believe it means: 1. Makeup Designer, 2. Hair Designer, and 3. Special Effects Designer.
So I agree as well. |

Then I dare to conjecture, that the "Standby Props & Special Effects"-credit in the same movie could be listed as Visual Effects, too. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect] |

| Posted: | | | | Standby Props & Special Effects? As a single credit, yes. This is also agood example of why I use the Actual credit LOCALLY and include the ACTUAL credit data in my notes.

Not so sure about this one, but curious to see what the response will be. It could be listed the way the rules read, not sure if it should. I'm not sure if I've been following the rules to the letter, but with newer movies where there are true visual effects credits, I leave out the special effects as they're usually just for stunts or pyros. Older films that only have special effects credits (with obvious visual effects among them) I'll give VFX, and all questionable ones I keep local just in case my way doesn't match the rules. |
