Hey everyone...
Those of you that know me know that for the past few years my mother has been fighting for her life. Battling cancer, Battling lung disease...  battling pneumonia several times over.

Well yesterday we had to take mom to the hospital again. It turns out she has pneumonia once again. They got her breathing straight yesterday. And kept her in the hospital to continue her anti-biotics treatments and such.

This morning my brother went to visit her. I decided to stay home and work on the yard and such so that it will be looking nice when she came home. But now I feel like an idiot for not going with him. Shortly after he left to go see her.. the hospital called. Telling us mom took a turn for the worse. She is in bad shape... they moved her to ICU... and not sure if she is strong enough to make it through it. So needless to say I am going pretty nuts over here.

I don't normally ask this of anyone. But for my mother I need to ask for all the good thoughts and prayers we can pull forth to see her beat this thing. I know she is an elderly woman. But she is one of the strongest women I ever met. I am just afraid she isn't strong enough. And this may sound like a big wuss... but I am not ready to face things without her in my life yet. So any good thoughts/prayer would be appreciated very much.

I know how you feel! None of of us likes to think of our parents as mortal! Certainly I do not!

I hope she gets better soon! Keep your chin up!

Thank You.

It is not looking good at all. My brother called. It is not looking good at all. They got her breathing a little better in ICU. But they found that the cancer is back in her lung and in her breast. And she is very weak and very scared And I am stuck here DAMN IT!

Hello Pete,

first I hope that your mum will get thru this, if she has a very strong will, chances are there that she will win another fight.

I also do not think that you are any kind of a wussy here. Most people love their mums and to maybe lose her is a thing no one wants to think of.
My mum is turning 80 soon, gladly she is still very strong and healthy for her age.

It always helps to share feelings and thoughts with others and get some encouring words.
My best wishes for your mum and for you and do not feel bad for not going to the hospital earlier, you had very good intentions to make the home look nice for her, so please do not worry about this.

Thanks Everyone. I found out that they are contacting Hospice for her. And asking about a living will and such. It is really not a good day.

She is 76 now. As I said... she is a very strong woman... has surprised me time and again. But this time the cancer hit hard. And she has been so weak and tired lately. I am afraid she just don't have it in her this time.

Part of me feels like I am being selfish here. I really don't want her to suffer. I just want her back and back healthy once again. But I don't know if she has that kind of fight in her this time to get that way once again.

I think you are not selfish, you just want the family complete again.

But for all of us will come a time to say goodbye to our mothers. Only thing what will help us thru this is family, friends.....and time.

I just hope that your mothers time hasn't come yet.
If I would be religious I would pray for you, as I am not all I can give you are my thoughts.

Pete,

My thoughts and prayers are with your family.  I cant image what you are going thru but I will keep praying.  Try and be strong for your daughter she is young and will need you during this tough family time.

Times like this helps us understand what is really important.  Family is everything.

Please send me an e-mail if there is anything I can do for you or your family.

O dear. This sounds bad. I fully understand your feelings, Pete. Please don't think you're being selfish - what you're feeling is your attachment to your mum, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I certainly hope she'll be able to recover once more. If, God forbid, that's not an option, then all I can say is I hope she won't have to suffer for long.

My thoughts are with you and your family.
