| Posted: | | | | I'm sure this topic has been debated on over and over again... Does re-releases are allowed in the DB? I have (apparently) a re-release copy of "Britney Spears: Greatest Hits: My Prerogative". Mine comes in a simple Keep Case while the initial release came in a Digipak (the artwork is identical). Keep in mind that the re-release is already in the DB, but has a wrong UPC: 828766639391 instead of 828766544398 which is identical to the Digi release. I've noticed this statement from the rules: Quote: Studios occasionally re-release titles with the same UPC, but with changed content – for example Cover Images, Case Type and Overview. All information in the main DVD Profiler database is to be for the Original Release version of the disc; do not contribute any information that is specific to a re-release. You can of course keep this re-release information in your local database profile, but do not contribute it to the main database. But I wanted to hear your thoughts in the matter. Thanks, Lior | | | October 12th, 1985. Tonight, a comedian died in New York. |

| Posted: | | | | If the UPC you have of the re-release (standard keep case) is indeed identical to that of the initial release (Digipak), then Sam is correct in that you would need to keep that info local. Reason for this is that this info would be constantly changed back and forth if both were allowed.
On the other hand if your UPC is different then the Digi, such as the UPC you listed as already in the database, there would be nothing wrong with contributing it due to it being a completely different entry. This is at least how I interpret the rules in regards to your question. | | | "The perfect is the enemy of the good." - Voltaire |

| Posted: | | | | If the UPC is different, you can submit it. If not, then you can't. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | The UPC is the same as the Digi. I'll keep the Digi profile and state the difference in the notes (which is noncontributable anyway). | | | October 12th, 1985. Tonight, a comedian died in New York. |

| Posted: | | | | You can change your local profile to match your re-release completely. You can lock different sections of the profile.
You can set your case type to Keep Case. Then DVD --> Lock --> Case type
You can replace the cover scans with scans of the keep case, and lock those as well. Any part of the profile can be separately locked.
Profile updates will only overwrite the things you haven't locked. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | I think the Rules are very clear on this subject. This is a re-release, therefore any and all data in the re-release which differs from the original re-release is not contributable. The only possible exclusion to this would be Disc ID IF the distributor made a NEW pressing...that could contributed. But at the same time if they created a new pressing (DiscID) that would then present the possibility of changes in Disc content including possibly Cast and Crew data. I would not consider Cast and Crew changes to be likely, BUT they would be possible. I have always checked my Cast and Crew aginst whatever is available when I encounter a different DiscID...thus far I haven'tt seen such changes, but will not exclude the possibility.
