| Posted: | | | | This space is for indicating the birth year of the actor, in case there are 2 actors with the same name. Does that answer your question?

| Posted: | | | | minimoke, I believe this is for when two Actors have the same name you can tell them apart (i.e. John Smith, b. 1973, John Smith b. 1965) It helps when using the cross linking feature so that both 'John Smiths' will not be under one another's names | | | DVD Profiler user since October 1, 2004 |

| Posted: | | | | It's important to note that when you enter a year into an actor's name, that does not link up to the actor's name without the year.
For instance, if you have Robert De Niro ([blank]) and Robert De Niro (1943), those are two different actors and they will not link up.
The new rule says: "It is generally not necessary to add birth year for actors as you add them to DVD Profiler. Use the birth year to differentiate between two actors with the same name."
It seems to me that we should refrain from using the year field unless there is a specific need to separate 2 actors. Otherwise, we'll need to enter years for every actor. If we do a mix, we defeat the linking feature. | | | ...James

OK. Good to know. And if I have an actor in my local db with a birth year and download a profile without a birth year...what happens then? | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | OK, so I set up the Harrison Ford (1942) and the Harrison Ford (1884), and they work fine, except in the cast filter, no "born" date shows up for either of them. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |
