In Norway we have a tabloidpress-like website that have sometimes lists movies worth to see, and not worth to see etc. Today I saw an "article" that listed some movies under the title: "Movietitles that doesn't make sence at all" In their list they have:

«Quantum of Solace»
«Black Snake Moan»
«A Clockwork Orange»
«Smiling Fish and Goat on Fire»
«Reservoir Dogs»
«Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind»
«Gleaming the Cube»
«I Know Who Killed Me»

These titles doesn't make sence of the plot I believe regarding to the "article", and in this case I was wondering about "Reservoir Dogs" Could anyone here explain to me what that title means?

This article is an interesting piece on how Gleaming the Cube got its name.

I never thought about a movietitle this way. A quick look at my own collection I see most of the movietitles are actually easy to explain.

This is what I found about "Reservoir Dogs":
Quote:
Tarantino doesn't typically answer this question directly, saying that he likes it when people come up with their own definitions for the phrase. He has called it "more of a mood title than anything else." One popular and oft-told story about the origin of the title is that former video store employee Tarantino used to mangle the title of the French film Au revoir les enfants, and his mispronounciation gave birth to the phrase "Reservoir dogs." Veteran actor Lawrence Tierney, who played Joe Cabot, reportedly told a German reporter that Reservoir dogs was "a very famous expression in America for dogs who hang around a reservoir."

These unique titles have one thing going for them:  they won't be confused with other movies of the same name.  For example the movie Conspiracy.  There is one movie Conspiracy starring Val Kilmer while another stars Kenneth Brabaugh.  These two movies share the same title yet are completely different in subject.

I can't imagine a director picking the title "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" again for any reason.
