I just purchased a Swedish edition of "Terminator: Salvation" with a holographic slip cover. To my surprise this slip cover, which seems to be on a limited edition only, has a different UPC number than the actual keepcase cover inside, which is the same as the regular edition.

My question is: how do I enter this in DVDP? Should I use the regular UPC, used on the actual keepcase, or do I use the UPC on the slipcase?

I would use the UPC from the slip cover since this is what you would see at the retailer.

This also allows for a profile with the slip cover artwork separately from the keepcase artwork.

Completely agree with the same reasons.

Yep, I agree. Always use the barcode on the outer packaging.

Thank you, I followed your advice and used the slipcover UPC.

This was qute common several years back here in R1 until some Hollywood bright boy got the brilliant idea to start cutting out a block for the UPC.  The same thing happens today in that when the slips are finished they announce a re-release of the title at a lower price. Of course with a different UPC then we could have an entry for both the slip version and the non-slip price reduction. I wish they had continued but....

Actually, it wasn't a 'Hollywood bright boy' that made that decision, it was a 'Retail bright boy'.  It seems that some unscrupulous people would take the slip, from an item that was on sale, and put it on a regularly priced item in order to get it at a discount.  To solve this problem, and to save time at the register by making it so the clerk didn't have to slide each case out of the slip, they invented the UPC window.  While I hate them, I can see where they are coming from.

This isn't uncommon. I would enter both, the slipcover scan with its UPC and the regular cover with its UPC.

Neither do I.  Because I hate them so, I asked my local Best Buy manager, and that is what he told me.
