| Posted: | | | | I remember it has been discussed before, but I can't find the topic.
When a Blu-Ray of a movie also includes a DVD version of the movie, is it ok to make a child profile for the DVD version (using disc-id) and adding this child profile to the box set contents of the Blu-Ray profile? |

| Posted: | | | | This has been the practice for some time, jeroen.. Besides being two different media, many of the specifics between the DVD and BD are totally different. If we do not make child profiles then data is not captured.

| Posted: | | | | Yes the way we are doing this is to make the Bluray profile the parent with all of its data and then add a disc-id child profile for the DVD version.
I have six that follow this model in my collection.

| Posted: | | | | I wish major decisions like this could be given out to people somehow (mass emails???).
I recently voted NO to one of JeroenX's contributions because, as far as I was concerned, boxset rules didn't apply when the films are identical.
I will, of course, change my vote.
Sorry JeroenX! |

| Posted: | | | | I hijach this thread, cause it seems to fit... As far as i see, the Main Movie on the DVD should be entered as a seperate Child Profil ( with same Covers etc. ), but in which Profil should a 3 Bonusdisc be entered, which comes as a DVD? Does this go to the parentprofil with the BR, or to the child with the DVD Version of the Movie? Or should it be entered in both Profiles as an Extra Disc? Just in case, this is the one i asking for Watch | | | Last edited: by Wolfpig |

Skip I know that the Bonus Features are not done seperatly. I just asked to which Profil in this case the 3 disc with the Bonus Features belongs, because as far as i have seen it, there where only mentioned that the Main Movie on DVD should get a separate Profil. I was only confused about not knowing for which profil the 3 DVD counts, because technically it is a Bonus feature disc for the BR & DVD... |

| Posted: | | | | Ok, that's an entertaining question. Despite Disney's claim recently to have released a DVD + BD AND a separate BD + DVD, in every other case I have seen it is always BD + DVD which makes the Parent the BD and thus the Bonus Disc also belongs to the Parent not the child. Now did Disney really release a DVD + BD, I don't know , I would expect if they did, in reality, then that set should come in DVD case, while the BD Combo would come in a BD case. So far this oddball configuration claim has only occurred ONE time, so any Bonus Discs would go with the BD parent.

| Posted: | | | | Okay. I guess i will add it to the BD Profil ( and maybe to the DVD one locally ). And i would wish that i could see if it is a DVD/BR or BR/DVD Combo, but it does not come in an DVD/BR Case....it is just a Media Book in which the Discs are in... |

Maybe i understand the sentence wrong, but the Content of the Bonus DVD is a 90min Documentary with Interviews, the other to discs are the main Movie, with almost identical Extras on it ( but can not control that, dont have a BR Drive/Player ) | | | Last edited: by Wolfpig |

| Posted: | | | | I consider the Blu ray profile to be the "parent" and therefore includes the Disc IDs for the Blu ray disc as well as both the DVD disc and the Bonus Materials disc. The DVD should be listed under "Other Special Features" as a bonus film. The special features on the Bonus Materials disc is identified in the "Features area" of the Blu ray profile. The "child profile of the DVD" should be created with information ONLY about what is on the DVD disc itself. The Bonus Materials disc is part of the Blu ray profile, not the DVD profile, therefore, those special features should not be listed in the DVD profile; only the special features actually on the DVD disc should be included in the DVD profile. The Blu ray profile would then have the Disc ID for the DVD profile added to the box set contents for those who wish to include the DVD profile in their collection in addition to the Blu ray profile. For those who do not wish to include the DVD profile in their collection, they can simply chose not to download it. The reference to it in the "Other Special Features" will let them know that a DVD version was included in the Blu ray release. Everybody's happy! | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |
